See this coat on Sydney at Petite Little Girl

Hi Guys!  I'm sorry to say that I wasn't feeling very well last week and didn't take but a couple of outfit pictures.  However, Mr. PEMS suggested a road trip to H&M Saturday, so I thought I'd share the pieces I picked up :)  Both coat and jacket in size 2 and both have to have the sleeves hemmed.  Both skirts in size 4 and all tops in size XS.  Let me know if you'd like any additional details on any of these items.

Cowl Neck Sweater Dress: Talbots vs. Ann Taylor

I've been craving a cowl neck sweater dress for this winter.  The first one I saw was at Talbot's, so when they offered 25% off plus free shipping I took the plunge and placed an order.  After ordering from Talbot's I ran across another cowl neck sweater dress at Ann Taylor.  They were running a special too (buy one get one half off) so I placed another order to try it out.
The Talbot's dress is a size pp and the Ann Taylor is a size xsp.

The feel of the sweater material is quite different in each dress.  The Talbot dress feels much softer than the Ann Taylor, and the cowl neck falls much easier on the Talbot dress as well. The hem is a bit longer on the Talbot's which I think would be more versatile making it appropriate for multiple occasions.  The color of the Ann Taylor one is really special though.
As you can see the Talbot's dress has a slight a-line flair at the hem, which helps minimize hips if you tend to be a bit curvy back there.
There was just a tiny bit of extra material in the back of the Talbot's dress but the rest of the fit was exactly the same except for the hem length.

Overall, I'm thinking the fit of the Talbot's is more flattering and I think I'll probably get more wear out of it, but I'm wondering which one you guys prefer?  Any preference one way or another?

First of all I'd like to thank you guys for your very sweet commiserations, I honestly can't tell you how much it helped getting all of your thoughtful comments and virtual hugs!! 

Next I'd like to apologize for not posting this outfit recap last Friday when it was due.  We left for Florida last Friday night (the last outfit is my "travel all night ensemble"). 

While on vacation I had the best intentions of taking pictures of every amazing meal, but somehow completely forgot about the camera the minute the food arrived and scarfed everything down like a starving piglet before remembering to snap a single photo!!  Here are some pictures of the beautiful scenery anyways ;)

A few notes about the outfits above............Outfit # 4 is for Lincy who also bought the Ann Taylor Shibori print top and is looking for different ways to style it.  I will be styling that top for Lincy in future posts (which will also help me get more wear out of it ;) 

The F21 Leaves Dress in # 5 was promptly returned after seeing how unflattering it was on me in pictures.  I saw the dress in the store and thought it looked just like Olivia Palermo.  Of course once I got it on, I looked nothing like Olivia (Really?!!) so it had to be returned! Lol

I must give credit to Mr. PEMS for #7.  I was feeling completely uninspired when I got dressed that day, so wound up copying his outfit from the day before......(of course his wasn't in skirt form) Lol

I hated missing last week's outfit recap but sadly my grandmother in law passed away and our youngest has started showing symptoms of feline leukemia.  She's been a carrier for years but is just now getting sick with it.

I'm looking forward to a wonderful B'day party with family at PF Chang's this weekend, hope you guys have a marvelous weekend as well!
