Don't buy it, recreate it: Anthropologie

I received my Anthropologie Fall Catalog yesterday and almost lost my breath when I came across the picture of this jacket!  I would so love to purchase such a lovely piece but my closet is already stretched to it's limits, not to mention my wallet.  (The fact that it's already sold out online didn't help either) Lol

All of these obstacles gave me the idea to do a post about recreating outfits that I can't just buy for some reason or another.  This is just an experiment, if you guys like it "Don't buy it, recreat it" will be regular feature for this blog in future.

So using the pieces I had available in my closet, here is my rendition of the amazing look above.
I'm not saying that I wouldn't buy the Anthropologie Tartan Boucle jacket given half the chance (because I so would).....

What do you guys think?  ........Yes, no, maybe so?!

Your look is way cuter because you have a cat in the picture! :)

  11. But Callandra, you just got a new closet, I mean room! ;)

YES to this feature and outfit. I love seeing outfits inspired by random ads -- definitely more challenging than it looks to recreate an outfit from your closet!

  15. Oh, absolutely YES! I love the idea of recreating the look with things we already own. It's fun to seek inspiration, but much more creative to add our own twist --- I think it is more self-expressive than doing a total copy. Love it!

  20. Great idea! I cut out outfit ideas from magazines & put them on a bulletin board I have in my closet for that very purpose! That way, when I'm feeling uninspired in the morning, I just try to recreate something from an ad. And your blog is always a HUGE inspiration as well!
