Ann Taylor Loft & Forever 21 Tiered Skirt Reviews

Hey Guys, I hope everyone is having a good week so far. Tomorrow is hump day and it should be all down hill from there ; )

Recently I have been craving one of the pretty tiered skirts that have been cropping up everywhere. So, when the ATL F&F 30% off sale came around I took advantage of the free shipping and ordered one of their tiered skirts in 00p.

Ann Taylor Loft Tiered Silk Skirt
(see a review of this same skirt at Alterations Needed and Extra Petite)
The description gave the length measurements of this skirt at 18" long, which is usually just a little short for my tastes, but I ordered it anyway because, well...... you never know, right? At the same time that I ordered the skirt from the Loft, I ran across a very similar skirt on-line at Forever 21.

The description for this skirt said that the waist would be 24" and the length would be 21" (measurements taken from their size small). "Even better" I thought, the waist sounds perfect as does the length and I wouldn't mind saving a few bucks either. The price for ATL skirt is $79.50 (before the 30% discount) and the price for the F21 skirt is $29.99 Upon the arrival of the ATL skirt, I was not surprised to find that it wasn't perfect. The waist was quite comfortable but the length was too short as I expected, and I didn't care for the aline shape.

At this point, I remained optimistic. I was still expecting the skirt from F21 and expecting the fit to be much better. Imagine my dismay when the F21 skirt arrived the very next day and turned out to be not 21" long and certainly not with a 24" waist.

The total length was 16" (2" inches shorter than the ATL skirt) and the waist was larger at 26" with extra volume in the hip area.

Verdict: Return for both.  Fingers crossed for next time!

  1. Welcome!!! I'm thrilled that you've joined the blogging community. I'm going to tweet about it right now to spread the word.

What a great start...your blog already looks super professional and streamlined. I tried on this skirt too and thought that H&M (and now I see, F21) makes pretty decent dupes. The fit of this skirt didn't look good on you, AN, nor me...three thumbs down.

PS - can you link this blog to your google friend connect profile? I tried looking for you that way via your follower account and couldn't find this blog : )

  15. Hi Callandra! So glad that I have another petite blog to view for fashion inspiration! Found you from PAG's site! :)

Too bad the skirt did not work out! :( The model makes it look so form fitting. I won't waste my time trying it on at the store now.

  16. Welcome to the blogging world. I am sure you'll enjoy this. :) One minor issue with me is the black background with white ink. My eyes hurt after reading a few lines. I do know other people who have this problems. I have a blog that I used to read and no longer read any more after the author changed the font. I hate this to happen to you. Just an advice. black letters are much easier to read.

    Have a great night!
