OOTD: Country Bumpkin

You know one of the things I love about blogging is looking at the outfits I've put together and worn all day. And, one of the things I hate about blogging is looking at the outfits I've put together and worn all day! Lol

That's right, when I put this outfit together this morning, I thought "home run".  Got home, took pictures, and I'm thinking strike out.

If I'm honest, I'll admit that it's not a bad outfit, just seeing it in the pictures it really doesn't feel like something I would wear or be drawn too.

Same outfit without the jacket.  I guess in my mind I was doing boho, while in reality I was really doing a country squire!  ha ha

Don't feel like you have to tell me the outfit's cute, I just want to know if this crazy phenomenon has every happened to you?

  1. I like how you mixed things up. This outfit is not something I would typically wear but I am super bored to begin with. It's refreshing to see something different than the pencil skirt and the ruffles top all the time.

  2. Yes, it happens to me all the time. I blame it on the lying mirror because photos tell the truth. Or I'll blame it on not having had my coffee yet when I put together an outfit in the morning ;)

I think this outfit's cute, not as horrible as you make it sound :) I do like the version with the jacket better, the tan and brown boots compliment one another.

  3. I kind of like the combination you pulled together here, it's not a mixture that is familiar to me but I really dig it. And those boots are awesome, I really want a pair but I don't think New England weather will be kind to them.

  5. i like that this look is different too and having variety is needed for everything! i love the look with the jacket as i feel like the color ties in nicely with the boots to make everything more cohesive.

  6. I kind of like the outfit, maybe with the blouse tucked in it would be sharper? I always have that problem, I think it's a great outfit and when I come home, I realize that it's not as fabulous. But you learn and grow from it so you don't make the same mistake twice. =)

  11. Yes happens to me all the time :) Even though I don't end up liking the picture, it's good that I walked around confident all day. I'd rather have that, than hate what I'm wearing from the beginning.

I really like your outfit though, your boots and skirt are quite adorable.

  12. Sydney, Exactly, I was bored! (I'm taking any excuse at this point ;) Everything is starting to look the same actually, but I think it's harder in the winter when our favorite pieces are sometimes buried under the coat, jacket, sweater....almost feel like an onion sometimes. Lol

  13. Cee, That is a perk of taking pictures of the outfits. It's easier to see what the outfit really looks like when we see it as a picture I guess.

Elle, I would gladly trade all of my boots for warm temperatures all year long!!

Ping, Perhaps you're right. I mean some people are more photogenic than other, why not outfits too right?! hee

Kileen, I do like variety in outfits for sure!

  14. Stylepint, Definitely! This is just a learing experience, and that's fun.

Jodi, I did like the color palette, definitely.

DC, Thanks - I love these boots too!

Kara Marie, Thanks, I 'll check out your blog for sure.

MJ, I love your point of view on this little faux pas. I did walk around confident all day, and that is what really matters!

  16. Lady, I can't stop staring at your boots - the color, the heel, the buckles - I am drooling over them!

Your "country squire" comment cracked me up - but I've done that many a time myself. Actually, I used to have a tendency to put together an outfit the night before and wake up in a bleary hurry, stare at my ensemble, and wonder "WTF?!"

  17. I like the layering you did with the vest and blazer...its a good mix of texture....I feel like I often see something look cute on someone else, then try it myself and realize its not really me or my style :)

  18. It is not the worst outfit... :p

The jean skirt is the only thing throwing me off. The top(s) would look great paired with trousers or a more feminine skirt.

  19. Really Petite, So surprised you like it! It's off the beaten path right?! ha ha

Lisa, And they're so comfortable!..who'da thunk it!Lol I can relate to the late night creating. I still put outfits together in my head right before I go to sleep and wake up going.....woaa!! (but not in a good way ;)

Tara, I must admit, I like the texture too. Definitely not my style for sure....so now I know.

Michelle, What a great suggestion! Would you keep the vest or no?

  20. i think you did a great job, and i bet it looked even cuter in person :) i really love the blouse paired with the vest.

  21. Keep the vest! I love it! You could go with a charcoal pant or grey tights to tie the vest in. I think it would look great with a dark denim skirt...the kind that is more trouser material...thin, not so jean-y. Does that make any sense?! Lol!

  22. I also feel sometimes that I'm wearing almost the same all the time and get bored...I agree with Michelle about the skirt, it makes it look too cow girly hehehe, maybe skinny jeans with those great boots and add a sparkly necklace? I think

  23. Leena, You always look so glam, thanks for the sweet comments.

Michelle, So much help, thank you!

Anonymous, Very interesting! Sounds adorable, I'll def try it!

  24. That happens to me too... something that looks good in my head or while getting dressed doesn't always seem that way in pictures or at the end of the day. Although this outfit does speak somewhat country, it at least has a style and isn't boring :P

  25. Interesting mix of textures here - love that : ) I can see how you would feel country in this outfit though - at least it's not a "Little house on the prarie" look : ) Really though.. I think this outfit simply isn't your style, it's put together well and looks nice on you!!

  26. Liane, Good point...it isn't boring. Michelle gave me some great ideas to revamp it, so I might try again.

Bella Style, I think you're right, just not my style ;) Thanks!
