Easy Like Sunday Morning
Okay, so it's really Sunday night now, but believe me, this morning was totally the song. Mr. PEMS and I spent all day lounging around the house, doing the occasional load of laundry and catching up on a couple of our favorite TV series............I didn't even have to change into P.J.s to get back in bed........how convenient is that?!!
Anyway, here's what I didn't look like today ;)

Upsizing at the Loft
I just bought these fabulous Marisa Randi Plaid Trousers from the Loft a couple of days ago while they were running their additional 50% off of clearance items. These pants are listed at 69.99 online with 50% off, but the cost in store was just $15.00 after the discount. (As a side note, the shape on these look nothing like the picture on the Loft website). What I really wanted to tell you guys was that I had to size up to a 0p!
I'm sure that none of you are surprised by my enthusiasm regarding this upsizing. It would be so great if sizes actually start to reflect actual measurements. Here is a close up of the pattern on the pants.

Looking good in skinny jeans (or faking it).
If you have a curvy shape, no matter what your size, feeling good in skinny jeans can be a challenge.
I enjoy participating in current trends and the skinny jean is one that is also convenient for winter since skinny jeans are easily tucked into boots. My long time stand by skinny jeans are not actually skinny jeans at all. I stumbled across the "barely boot cut" from express last year and found they were quite flattering in spite of the close fit on the legs. I also appreciated the very dark uniform wash on these jeans, since this is also quite flattering for us girls with curves.
Sorry I couldn't put the pictures right next to each other for comparison, but I am so HTML illiterate.
Of course I had to style them once I got them back.

(you guys remember this picture from so long ago) However, I recently fell in love with the Loft "Slim fit" jeans while reading one of Cee's post's from her blog "To Brighten My Day". I orderd the jeans in a 00p (my usual size from the Loft) hoping that since the description said "slim fit" instead of "skinny" that they would be okay. The jeans fit, but I couldn't bring myself to walk out of the house with the legs so tight (one of the perks of being curvy ;) I promptly returned the pants and had been contemplating getting them the next size up but was concerned about the hips and waist being too big. In the meantime, while picking up some money from some clothing sales at an upscale consignment shop, I ran across the same jeans in a 2p. I purchased them right away because the legs looked so good when I tried them on and the price was amazing compared to buying them brand new in the store. The fit of the pants on the hips and waist were quite amusing, but since then I have had my tailor take in the waist and hips and am very happy with the look. I thought I'd share this little tip since I stumbled across it accidentally and thought some of you guys might be interested in this option for skinny jeans. |

OOTD: Sleep Shopping
As many of you have mentioned in your recent posts, I have been trying to avoid any extra spending since I obviously have plenty of clothes already and just need to mix things up a little to keep it fresh.
In spite of this fact, I couldn't resist browsing the Loft 40% off sale + free shipping offer that has been going on for the past few days. And like many of you, I also fell hard for the abstract floral print pencil skirt.
This skirt reminds me of the seasonal printed skirts that are offered at JCrew but never for petites. Unfortunately, similarly to the JCrew skirts, this one is not offered in petite's at this time (at least not on-line) it was affordable however (especially with the 40%off). Haunted by thoughts of the many ways this skirt could be styled, I tossed and turned in bed, unsuccessfully trying to fall asleep. Finally, unable to forbear any longer, I succumbed to temptation, quietly slid out of bed and padded to the computer ordering the skirt in a 00 regular.
I must not have been as quiet as I thought, because Mr. PEMS soon appeared in the hallway from the direction of the bedroom. Looking from the order confirmation screen to my wide eyed zombie-like facial expression illuminated only by the glow from off of the computer, he sympathetically asked "Poor baby, were you sleep shopping again?"
It could happen ;)

Happy New Year
Hello Little Lovelies (I can say that because I'm little too ;)
It's been forever since my last post..................23 days to be exact!
I have plenty of excuses to effectively acquit myself, but the bottom line is after being sick and sleeping on the couch for almost two weeks straight, I had no interest in clothes, makeup or shoes, no desire to post, shop or even get dressed.
I found this extreme lack of motivation quite distressing and finally confided my guilty secret to Mr. PEMS (who had probably already guessed as much after my repeated daily ensemble of sweatpants and flip-flops). He kindly told me to give it a couple of weeks and see how I felt after that. I actually think that he may have initiated an intervention as well, because not long after my confession, sissy called and asked me over to watch some new What Not to Wear episodes. In addition, I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts so much, I can't tell you how grateful I have been for all of you and your wonderful blogs!
Surprisingly, I have been a good girl since going back to work from our Holiday Break and have faithfully taken pictures of each day's outfits....(well, almost each day's outfits). hee hee
I have to be honest with you girls, the weather is freezing here (today's high didn't make it past 20 degrees) so I am fast running out of stylish, warm outfit inspirations and I can't tell you how sick I am of wearing pants! If any of you ladies have some stylish winter wear inspirations, styling tips or ideas on how to keep it fresh and interesting (while staying warm) please pass it on!
Btw, you guys remember this skirt on Vicky? I totally fell for this skirt and was lucky enough to find it on e-bay after Vicky's post.
