I am not in the habit of wearing suits to work, but business dress was required Monday. Luckily, I am a bit of a suit horse (for no reason at all) and had this 2009 gray Ann Taylor suit on hand! The leather satchel is Nine West and I can't even tell you how old it is since it's been around since school days ;)
I capitulated and bought the Converse Chambray Shirt after seeing Jean's review. (Thank you Jean!) I did have to have it hemmed but I didn't think the rest of the fit was too bad. I wore it with the Loft's 2010 felt green jacket, Loft's plaid cropped pants (thrifted) Target's Patent Merlot Pumps (at least 3 years old) and a bag bought from a friend selling Avon accessories two years ago.
I tried two different belts with this outfit, you can tell me which one you prefer. To me this outfit is very similar to the one worn by Bianca here and by Anh here. I adore how both of these ladies paired metallics and denim. The bag is Hype (quite old from TJMaxx), the shirt is gap (thrifted and hemmed), the shoes are Rhiana by Madden Girl (2010), and the necklace if F21.
Lo and behold, this Converse Chambray Shirt is getting a lot of use! I paired it with a gorgeous H&M skirt I found on e-bay, gray Kenneth Cole Outlet bag and these amazing Sofft Pavia Peep toes in Eggshell.
Armitron Tortoise Shell Watch, Target Mossimo Messenger Bag in Cognac and Target Mossimo Supply Co Juniors Boyfriend Cardigan.
I tried to add links for everything that's still available, but if you would like additional outfit information just let me know.
Ciao Lovelies!
You look so chic in all of your outfits. The H&M skirt is gorgeous. I am sorry to hear about your car. Weekend will be here before you know it! I hope the rest of the week will go well for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sydney, it can only get better right?! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. Are you ok, Callandra?! Cars can be fixed, but I hope you're injury-free.
ReplyDeleteI love your first look. Do wear suits more often, it suits you. I think the glasses made the outfit for me :)
Your Target bag looks so great with casual wear. I will be living vicariously through you!
I'm sorry about your rough week! Good news is the outfits are great.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new job, and great outfits! Being the new girl, looks like you rocked it! Sorry to hear about the car accident though, that is never fun.
ReplyDeleteAll your looks are great! I particularly like the chambray top w/ the h&m skirt and the Pavia shoes. Love your new watch...they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery : )
ReplyDeleteI'm going with the majority - the outfit with the skirt is so perfect. The skirt brightens it all up and the eggshell colored shoes = to die for. I'm learning to incorporate more color in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your accident, but glad to know that you have bounced back...and still as fashionable as ever! I love all of the looks! My favorites are outfit #2, the H&M skirt (gorgeous), and the animal print scarf.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that H&M skirt! Absolutely gorgeous. Sorry to hear that your week has been crazy. Congrats on your new job though!!
ReplyDeleteoh no!! i'm so sorry to hear about your accident. at least you weren't hurt.
ReplyDeleteand you have such great style! i'm so in love with that Target messenger bag! i have to go out and find it now. :)
cute & little
Oh no, :( it's so terrible what happened! I am so glad you aren't hurt!
ReplyDeleteAnd your outfits are all excellent...I look put together maybe once a week so I don't how you do it. I love that first gray suit, things look perfect on you off the rack (what an enviable gift you have!)
You got a new job, congrats!!! And so sorry about the car! I hope it was nothing too serious!
ReplyDeleteon to the outfits:
#1 LOVE the business dress - and so funny that you just have suits laying around LOL! I would be STRESSED!
#2 I never thought about having a shirt hemmed! That's brilliant! And oooh and Avon bag!!! ;)
#3 As you mentioned I love the mix of metallics with denim - I think I like the first belt best.
#4 I think this is my favorite outfit of this series - I LOOOOVE that skirt!!! I need to get some fuller skirts - I have short legs so they tend to make me look full at the hips and shorter than I am!
#5 Love this casual look. And I just remembered I think I have a similar print scarf somewhere in my house LOL! Might have to try and dig it up!
As Elle mentioned I think I can only put together a great outfit a couple times a week. The rest of the days are really casual or repeats that I've already taken pictures of and posted! LOL!
Adorable outfits! Especially love the denim shirt with the gold skirt - and I prefer the darker belt in the first pic.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your hair and it is always so shiny!! What products do you use? Thanks!
YAY for the new job! Congrats! I bet you are the best dressed there? LOL :)
ReplyDeleteLove all the outfits but the first- fave!!!
Love the third outfit! And congrats on the new job!
ReplyDeleteI'm fine Cee, more upset about my baby (car) than anything! Lol Ever since I read your post about the Target bag I have been sniffing my purse....(people probably think I'm nuts ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Short Sister, that is good new right?!!
Thank you Skylette! I'm just glad that no one was hurt......so no worries ;)
Definitely Bella Style! ;)
Thank you Jarucha....I think it's my favorite just because I love that skirt so much. Hee
Thank you Kish.....I love that skirt so I think that outfit is probably my personal fave!
Wow how do you find these items on ebay? I never shop ebay for clothes. I remember this skirt @ H&M.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your car :( I am always in awe of how amazing you look in everything!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah, I'm sure things will settle down soon ;)
ReplyDeleteAwww.....thank you Kileen! You shouldn't have any trouble finding the bag, Target always has lots whenver I go in there ;)
So sweet Elle, thank you! I do have a lot of my clothes altered actually, but I am fairly lucky regarding fit for the most part.
Wow! So much feedback, thank you Elaine!! I saw you mentioned that you have a bit of trouble wearing fuller skirts. For the most flattering fit with a fuller skirt, make sure that the skirt doesn't start to widen 'till it gets to the top of your thighs. If the skirt starts to flare any higher than that, it will add bulk....especially if the material is thick or stiff ;)
Thanks for leaving me feedback on the belt Susanna! Regarding hair products....I use: Rusk Shine Spray and just a smidge of John Frieda's Frizz-Ease, Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Creme when it rains. (Quite a long name huh?!) Lol
Thank you Annie! ;)
Thank you Elaine....(my fave too I think ;)
I can't tell you how much luck I've had with H&M skirts on E-bay Aubrey!!....it's amazing ;)
Thank you so much Tara!
So many lovely outfits. Don't even know where to start. :) Congrats on your new job, Callandra. That must be stressful though exciting, right?
ReplyDeleteI love your first outfit. You look amazing in a serious suit with pretty prints peaking out, and those glasses mean business. :)
I also noticed that we have the same exact bag from Kenneth Cole outlet (mine is black, and I'm using it everyday now.)
I like the first belted look better on metallic and chambray outfit.
Have a good week, and weekend isn't too far any more. Hope you get your car fixed?
Sorry to hear about your car! :( Glad you are physicially ok. :)
ReplyDeleteSo many great ideas! I would not have thought to wear a snood unlooped! It looks great! Of course, the Target shirt with the H&M skirt is awesome!!
I bookmarked the Sofft shoes. :) They look more vibrant in your pictures than they do on the site.
Thank you Vicky ;) I'm a big control freak so right now it's just more stressful than exciting. Although I am trying to let go a little, I want to enjoy as much as possible. Thank you for the feedback on the belt, I'm thinking the woven was everyone's favorite w/ that outfit so far.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michelle ;) I have had feedback that they look more patent in pictures, but they aren't in real life. They are quite comfortable though especially with the platform, and I like the wooden heel....covered heels tend to get torn up I think.
All of these looks are great! Love that H & M skirt!!!!
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I LOVE about your style is that you demonstrate how to express creativity and fun with fashion yet still look down to business enough for those of us who must command some authority and be taken seriously. I am an attorney so it can be really hard to balance my desire to express my love of all things vintage and interesting style without looking frivolous.
Love those eyeglass frames. What style/ brand are those?
Thanks for the inspire! :) You are awesome, Callandra!
I'm really enjoying your outfit recaps Callandra! Every time I see them, I'm amazed what a wide range of looks you have and each one is equally chic! =)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind words Carole! The glasses I bought through Vision First and the brand is Vivid........not sure what style but there is a number on them (778) If you aren't able to locate them w/ that information let me know, I'm sure I can get the information from the office for you ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jess! ;)
Love them all. The chambray shirt with the skirt is my fave. I'm so sorry about your wreck, bummer.
ReplyDeletela vie petite
Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear about your car, Callandra! It sounds like you're taking it with a grain of salt though, still sharing these lovely outfit recaps with us...which is impressive.
ReplyDeleteThese outfit recaps really show the breadth of "Callandra style" and all the looks you can pull off that others can't. And yesss I wasn't kidding about that Chambray shirt - it's amazingly versatile! You are very, very particular on length though I noticed! I remember you left a comment asking about length, and strangely enough I never thought about it and I'm still okay with the length because I never wear it untucked. Since you're wearing yours untucked with those plaid pants I can see how length is more of a concern, but the bottom row of buttons looks a little strange cut off.
i agree with jean---you have so many different styles and you pull them off so effortlessly! i feel like i wear the same boring boring outfits, lol!
ReplyDeleteThank you Cori.....I think I get my car back next week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jean! I am particular on length for sure, but you're right of course, if the blouse is always tucked in it doesn't matter so much ;)
Thank you Leena......and I certainly wouldn't call your outfits boring at all!...I always get inspiration from your glamerous ensembles ;)
