OOTD & JCrew Double Serge Pencil Skirt (again)

Hey Everybody, I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day Weekend!  The Mister and I spent the day running errands around town.  We stopped briefly at my tailors and she informed us of an amazing sale going on at Dillards.  The women's summer sandals are super cheap and the sale items in the men's department are an additional 50% off the lowest price, definitely worth checking out!

I am also eagerly waiting to see all of the outfits from Khatu's Vibrant Summer Giveaway.  When I was trying to come up with outfit ideas for Khatu's challenge, I threw open the closet and just started putting things together.  My outfits have been so matchy-matchy of late that I felt absolutely stuck in a rut and this challenge was just the thing to push me off of my lazy fashion couch.  Anyway, here is one of the combinations that wasn't submitted for the challenge, featuring the JCrew Double Serge Pencil Skirt (again).

  1. Love that skirt! I do not have anything like that in my closet. JCrew 00P definitely fits you well. I can't wait to see all entries for Khatu's contest either.

  3. I just love this skirt, what a lovely color. I think it's a bold combination pairing the blouse with this skirt and the shoes, somehow it all works though so kudos to you!
I also can't wait to see the outfits for Khatu's contest...my entry was not very bold but I expect everyone else's to be an eye-opener.

  4. i agree with elle that the blouse, skirt & shoes are a bold combo, but everything together works so well. you definitely pulled it off!!

i also really like the pattern of the blouse. the necklace and the bangles are also a cute touch. you are really great with mixing colors, pattern & different textures.

  5. Maybe it's because of fall, but I think I like this color skirt better than the blue. I wish I could wear that color, but I am too pasty :(.

  6. I wouldn't have thought of pairing the two... actually I probably would've struggled to match anything with the skirt (even though it's a great color), but you make it seem so easy! :)

  7. Petite Little Girl, I didn't have anything this color previously either. I'm hoping this color will add a little variety to my closet.

Curls & Pearls, Thanks, it was one of those Loft blouses from spring 09' that sold out of my size at the Loft before it went on sale, so when I found it on e-bay I snatched it up!

Elle, Thank you for your feedback on how well the outfit goes together...that question was supposed to be at the bottom of my post and I completly forgot.

Ping, To be completly honest, I'm horrible at putting colors like this together. I always have to cheat a little and flip through a JCrew mag ;)

April Joy, I'm glad to hear you say that, I think this color is my favorite out of the three as well.

PetiteXXS, Thank you for that sweet compliment, but as I told Ping above, I definitly have to cheat a little in order to figure out how to pair some color combinations.

  10. Callandra - What a beautiful outfit. I am now even more convinced that I need that skirt, alterations be damned. I think I like the yellow so much better than the blue (although the blue was really nice too, I just LOVe the yellow). I also really like that top. LOFT probably wasn't even on my radar when that top came out. It looks familiar to me though so I did some digging and I htink Love'N'Salt has that same top in a darker color version (http://lovensalt.blogspot.com/2010/06/trial-error-pags-loft-giveaway.html) ?

  11. Jean, Thank you for the compliment. I recently checked out the JCrew page for this skirt because some of them are now on sale for $98.00 Unfortunatly, the yellow color wasn't one the one's on sale :( I do like Love'n'Salt's blouse and I definitly remember seeing it in the stores. I'm thinking her blouse has front ties?..still very cute!

  18. Aubrey, Thank you I noticed that Jcrew mixes the two all the time so I thought I'd give a whirl.

Bianca, Yes, I finally chose the yellow (just seemed to reach for it more, you know?)

  19. That blouse is gorgeous, gorgeous. I like the mustard brown skirt too, it's nice & classy. BUT THERE WAS SOMETHING REFRESHING ABOUT THE BABY BLUE COLOR SO I DEFINITELY LOVED THAT MORE.
