Gap Wide Leg Trouser Review

So what do you guys think of these jeans?  I first saw them reviewed by Rose a la Mode.  They just came in the mail today and I'm loving the rise.  Being as curvy as I am, low rise jeans have never been my friend.  These are described as "high rise" but the fit is more of a mid rise and they feel comfortable and flattering.  My only concern is that the super flare on these will visually shorten my leg line.  Please help (and be brutally honest).  If they're not flattering I'd rather not be out the moolah for nothing!

Gap Wide Leg Trouser Jeans 00p (Dark Dirty Fade)

  1. I'd try wearing it tucked in - you'd look longer that way, I think.

  2. Very retro. Love it! I'm digging the flares and think they flatter you very well.

  3. If flare jeans are your thing then I'll say keep them. They actually fit you pretty well. I love the wash too. I am a fan of flare jeans but I wish they are a little less "flare" :)

  4. I say keep but I can't be sure if they look good because you are wearing them or if they are actually flattering. Then again I don't think I've seen you wore anything poorly. I like them. :D

  5. 70s flares are back for spring, so I think you nailed the trend. I actually really like the cut of those jeans - MUCH better than when I attempted wide-legged jeans. You've got pretty slender legs so visually it widens at the flare and the pointy heels help to elongate everything. I think you got a winner here - and what a nice break from skinnies!

  6. I LOVE them!!! But you know me and my love of Wide Leg Jeans :P so I might be biased. I love the colour and I think you look tall in these. Keep!!!!!

  7. Those are fab! You're right though, they do look more mid rise than high rise. I think if you tuck in the top it might show off your great figure better. :)

  8. They are adorable...love the wash & fit on you. I don't think they shorten your legs...

  9. I like them as well! The only thing I can be really crucial about is that I know what you mean on how it can look a bit too flared at the hem. I think it looks great with a really large heel. I wish it was just a smidge narrower (maybe less than 0.5) where it really flares at the bottom.

  10. I'm always very honest. I think they look fab on you. Honestly, I haven't seen 1 bad outfit on you. I also have a hard time believing you're 5'1. you look so much taller! That's why I don't think the flared legs make you look short. I love the wash as well. The fading looks proportionate, as well as the length.

  11. I think they are awesome on you. Would love with a platform chunky heel and a fitted simple top as well. The wash is excellent.

  12. callandra-- you are rocking those jeans! you do not look short at all. you never do! i <3 all your outfits and this one is no exception.

  13. Callandra - these remind me of a wide legged pair of jeans that Elaine of Curls and Pearls have and I love the look on both of you. The dark denim on these is the perfect wash and you do NOT look shortened at all by the wide leg. I don't think I've seen one "typical petite faux-pas" look less than lovely on you. And the rise...those are labeled as "high" ? Hm. From the photo it looks like they come up to the perfect point below your belly button.

  14. Cute. Just a tad to flaired I think though. Maybe if you had them taken in just a bit.. like an inch or less? Love the wash!

  15. Good idea Cynthia....I will definitely try it!

Thank you anonymous...they are very retro arent' they?!

A tad less flared Sydney?...I think you may be right.....I'll have to ask my tailor about that option - Thank you!

    Aawww...thank you Elle! (blushing ;)

Flare's are big this spring Lisa (and I was quick to jump on the wagon ;) I am hoping that I can wear them after the trend is over....Sydney suggested that I have the flare taken in and I think that may be an option if the trend ends abruptly ;)

Thank you Elaine....The color on the gap website didn't look at all to me like the color that came in the mail, but they have the same name and honestly I like the color they turned out to be much better.

Cynthia suggested the same thing Lilly....I will definitely try it out!

Thank you so much for helping Leah!!

I think you may be right Hannah....Sydney suggested the same thing so I'll definitely look into it - Thank you!

Aubrey, I have seen your comments on other blogs and besides being very helpful, you are also always honest....so I am very glad to be getting your opinion - Thank you so much!

Beautiful suggestion Allie (I can already picture the outfit - Thank you)!!

Thank you Jean! You echoed my very thoughts on the rise of these jeans exactly!!

Thank you so much Bella Style!......"slightly taken in flair" seems to be the general concensus...I will definitely look into it ;)

  16. Tucking in the shirt plus wearing heels would make your legs look a mile long. Even if you don't, you always look taller than your actual 5'1".

  17. I will definitely try these with a top tucked in Cee!......(and thank you for the leggy compliment ;)

  18. I don't think too many petites could pull off these wide legged jeans but you my dear look great!!! :D

  19. i love them! i think you look super tall!

  20. Keep!! I do not get a shortening vibe!

I love what you paired these pants with! I have seen a few lovely blogging ladies in flared jeans...I might give them a try this weekend!

  21. Keep the major flare--it's awesome!

    I don't think it makes you look shorter;
but wearing a dark/blue shoe would continue the illusion of your leg, if you are still concerned about it.

    Love this whole outfit, lady!

  22. You think your short! I'm only 4'11'! I tend to shy away from wide leg trousers myself. I think these look pretty good on you though. You're much thinner than me as I am about 115 lbs. (Trying to loose weight!) So for me I think they'd make me look pudgy. On your frame they look great!

  23. Thank you for commenting Anonymous. I am often reminded that I need to be more grateful for the height I do have.........but, I enjoy seeing the shortest petite ladies out there 'rockin their style. Very inspiring for me!

  24. Please keep! They look fabulous on you. I wish they would look like that on me! You seriously can rock anything.

  25. Mamasita Those look so great on you! I think you should keep them, but don't listen to me. That's something you have to decide for yourself. I hate it when I let people talk me into things that I really don't like, but I buy them anyway! Arg!
